What we offer

Three services, kept deliberately narrow.

Each one addresses a specific stage of independent reporting — from first draft to a finished, published home for your work.

Reporting Foundations Consultation

A guided working session for writers who publish on their own and would like a second opinion on how they gather and present material. The session covers structuring a story from initial question to finished draft, keeping a clear record of where each fact came from, and separating observation from interpretation. Suitable for people at the start of their practice or returning after a break.

Runs as a single 90-minute online meeting with a shared notes document afterwards, plus a short written summary of the points discussed. No preparation is required beyond bringing a draft or an idea you are considering.

What's included

  • ■ 90-minute online session
  • ■ Shared notes document and written summary
  • ■ Reusable sourcing checklist

Editorial Review and Draft Feedback

A careful read of a finished or near-finished piece with written feedback organised by structure, evidence and clarity. Each comment explains the reasoning behind it so the choice remains yours. Aimed at writers preparing a longer article for a publication or their own outlet.

Covers up to 3,500 words per submission, returned within five working days, with one follow-up round of questions by email. Feedback is advisory throughout; nothing is rewritten without your agreement.

What's included

  • ■ Review of up to 3,500 words
  • ■ Written notes within five working days
  • ■ One follow-up round by email

Publishing Setup Support

Practical help for reporters who want a modest, durable home for their own work. Covers choosing a lightweight platform, arranging archives so past pieces stay findable, writing a short corrections policy, and setting up a plain contact route for readers. Designed for individuals and small two- or three-person groups rather than established newsrooms.

Delivered across two sessions of one hour each over a fortnight, with a written setup plan and a checklist of tasks in a sensible order. Includes one month of email follow-up for questions that come up during setup.
